| Post subject: | CRU DINNER: Brooklyn Marriott, Friday Feb 27 |
Watch this space for news of the CRU DINNER. Mike Alpern has been working out an arrangement with the Marriott. Apparently it won't be in the restaurant itself, but adjacent; there will be no need for staggered seating. The dinner probably will run from 6 to 8 pm. If you are reading this post, you're a member of the CRU, and you are welcome to join the CRU dinner at the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament at the Brooklyn Marriott. Mike will provide details about the arrangements, including the price, very soon. Please use THIS THREAD to let us know if you intend to join us, and again, we will post more details here shortly. |

CRU DINNER UPDATE Mike Alpern has provided the following information: Attachment: YGP1326.jpg [ 7.02 KiB | Viewed 894 times ] Attachment: IMG_2419.JPG [ 8.66 KiB | Viewed 893 times ] Attachment: IMG_2417.JPG [ 11.71 KiB | Viewed 896 times ] What: ACPT 2009 Friday Night Dinner When: Friday, Feb. 27 from 6 PM to 8 PM Where: the glass enclosed Lounge directly connected to the main bar in the lobby of the Marriott. Cost: $40 per person, including tax and tip The Archive Restaurant, where the dinner was held last year, is no longer open for lunch or dinner (for reasons Mike will be able to share at the tournament). The Cru will be the only ones in the hotel actually eating dinner in the hotel (unless room service or a bag of chips and a diet soda are your preference). Admittance to the Cru Dinner (note nostalgic reference) will be by reservation only as the room can accommodate about 50-55 people comfortably. (Again, please make your reservations by posting in this thread.) Reservations will be closed when we reach that number. There are no sit-down tables per se but there will be an assortment of cafe (tall) tables and small lounge tables as well as seating for about 35 on couches and chairs throughout the room. There is no waiter service. The cost will be $40 per person including tax and tip and will be charged to your room via a signature form Mike will give you upon entering the Lounge area. If you are attending the dinner but not staying in the hotel, you can pay at the door or make your own arrangements with a hotel guest to charge the cost her or his room. Things change! Please keep an eye on this thread for any possible updates. Also, please send Mike an e-mail message giving emergency contact information, just in case. Good, Harris, more turkey for me. I only eat it once a year, on Thanksgiving. However, last Thanksgiving, I had food poisoning, so I missed my yearly allotment of turkey. Linda |
