Did you know that a Romney is a breed of sheep? These are the kinds of things I learn in the inevitable Wikipedia death spirals that accompany the cluing of these puzzles. Despite that factoid's timeliness, it didn't make it into a clue. Because who knows that? This is supposed to be doable and fun, I'm not trying to make any political statements.
This puzzle is going to skew hard for those of you who believe a good song hasn't been written since 1980, but it should be easy breezy for those of you who are up on your pop culture. Or as my girlfriend put it, "Why'd you put all those lousy songs in your puzzle." Only she actually said something more colorful than lousy.
One last thing... I really wanted to clue 11-Down as the Billy Joel song with that title. There's a crazy, serendipitous connection between that song and the theme answer it crosses. So google that after you're done with the puzzle and go into a Wikipedia death spiral of your own.
Enjoy the puzzle. Share it. Let me know what you think.

Cute diversion, seems like you had fun filling and cluing this. Mixed theme reactions from "I know that one! (quickly jotting answer)" to "I know that one... (groaning at impending earworm)". Now granted, it's not a tight theme, but for here, it's fun and can only help with grid filling, cluing, etc. Keep it up.
