A recent retirement prompted this Sunday-sized crossword. Enjoy. Or, alternatively, be glad this person is now retired.

Dang I seem to be getting all my news from crosswords these days! Usually BEQ's though...
Nice premise; didn't really find any of the quotes funny, more just mean, but then I guess that's the point.
Pretty cool gridding with so much overlap between theme entries!

i had no idea. and i'd never heard any of the quotes before, but it still came together easily. this guy sounds like a professional jerk. i didn't realize that was even a job.
some major repeat issues (9d/21a; 6d/25d; 28a/101d; 112a and the clue for 101d), not that it matters, really. and i don't think that's what 74a means.

Yeah, this puzzle was rejected because it's not funny, just mean. I got a great rejection letter from Rich Norris, who said (essentially) that he hated the subject matter of this puzzle and hoped he never had to think about it again. Awesome.
Didn't notice the repeats ... hm ... I guess editors are useful.
